Business Systems Group Limited (BSG) has been announced as the Sun Microsystems, Inc Open Source Training Delivery Centre for the UK. The new status means that BSG will be hosting and delivering a wide range of Open Source courses from the Sun Learning Services catalogue. Sun courses being delivered cover topics such as: Sun Java™, GlassFish™, MySQL™, Sun Identity Manager, Sun SPARC® Administration, and Sun Virtual Desktop.
BSG are already a Sun Partner Advantage (SPA) Executive Level partner - the highest partner accreditation level available - specialising in the Sun server, storage and software product portfolios, with specialist skills in Solaris, Microsoft and Open Source environments.
Mike Sampson, Head of Training at BSG comments; “In the current economic climate, attention is focused on ways to keep down costs while increasing return on investment. Organisations could make vast savings every year if they made more use of open source as part of their core system and application strategy. With the ability to download the open source software for free, developers need to maximise their productivity as quickly as possible and a structured training programme should be a prerequisite for ongoing, effective development.”
The BSG Training Centre, based on City Road in the City of London, is a state of the art facility with 16 meeting and training rooms able to cater for up to 16 delegates per course. Facilities include the latest Intel technology PC's, high speed wireless internet access, LCD projectors, and a suite of the latest Sun Ray Virtual Desktop thin clients. “The second part of the BSG Training Centre opened in March 2008 and this agreement with Sun highlights the investment we have made in the centre as we strive to deliver best of breed training and support services to our customers” continues Sampson.
