Adastra congratulates cutting edge thinkers at CAREDOC
August 2009 - Adastra Software Ltd congratulates customer of 10 years, CAREDOC, on receiving top accolade from the prestigious ICT Excellence Awards programme – ‘IT Project of the year (SME) Award’.
Phonsie McCarron, General Manager, CAREDOC told us, “It was a great honour to be up there accepting our award alongside the likes of technology giants Intel, Microsoft and HP. We are very proud of our extremely dynamic team here at CAREDOC and believe we are at the cutting edge of technology certainly in Ireland.
We have worked closely with Adastra for several years now and from day one the support they have given us has been superb. They too have a highly competent team and we are proud to have worked in partnership with Adastra pioneering the use of innovative technology leading the way in out-of-hours care.”
CAREDOC, the organisation who run the out-of-hours doctors’ service covering south east Ireland counties Carlow, Kilkenny, South Tipperary, Wexford, Waterford and South Wicklow, has built a solid reputation over the years for their innovative use of technology. This award recognises the work they have done implementing a Virtual Private Network (VPN) with Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) improving information flow between treatment centres, but according to Adastra, this progressive attitude has been inherent across the entire business for many years.
Dave Collins, Technical Sales, Adastra was delighted to hear of the CAREDOC team’s success at these awards, “It is great working with CAREDOC, they are extremely forward-thinking and really know how to use technology. They are always looking for new ways to improve the way they do things. Winning this award is a credit to the team there. Well done CAREDOC – you deserve the recognition!”
The award for SME IT Project of the year was presented at a plush gala dinner, held at the Royal Marine Hotel, Dublin, to Phonsie McCarron, General Manager and Michelle Kearns, IT Manager of CAREDOC by Paul Hearns, Editor of Computerscope magazine. This was the ninth annual event of its kind, run by Mediateam, and sponsored by Lenovo, and CAREDOC’s prestigious accolade was one of 21 Information and Communications Technology Excellence Awards recognising outstanding achievements across the public and private sector companies of Ireland.
Jim Chase, Managing Director, Adastra, echoes Dave Collins’ sentiments, adding, “In this area of unscheduled and urgent healthcare services, the progressive nature with which organisations use IT is often underestimated. We see real evidence of excellence every day working alongside the IT people at our client sites and CAREDOC is a shining example of a company that truly knows how to embrace technology and use it effectively to greatly benefit the patients they serve!”
