Cloud based Adastra is selected by Ayrshire Doctors On Call

14 September 2011 - Ayrshire Doctors On Call (ADOC) has migrated to a cloud-based implementation of the Adastra clinical patient management software system from Advanced Health & Care (AHC), an Advanced Computer Software Group company.  Adastra is being used by ADOC to provide out of hours medical care for NHS Ayrshire & Arran’s 380,000 population. ADOC, an Adastra user for more than 10 years, is the first AHC customer to use Adastra in a cloud environment.

ADOC’s Adastra system is being hosted as part of the Advanced On-Demand service portfolio and will be accessed via N3, the National Network for the NHS which provides reliable, secure broadband connectivity.

As an existing Adastra user, ADOC took the decision to migrate to cloud-based Adastra when it was faced with a challenging temporary office move due to building refurbishment. The move forced ADOC to review its IT infrastructure and it was decided that hosting Adastra ‘in the cloud’ proved the most cost-effective and flexible option.

Liz Farquhar, General Manager, ADOC, says, “Advanced Health & Care understood our challenge completely and offered us the best possible solution. We were under a lot of pressure to time everything just right so that we could execute the move and make sure that we were open for business on time.  The project ran like clockwork. We placed the order for cloud-based Adastra and 14 days later we were live!”

Farquhar adds, “I was very impressed with the Adastra support engineers and their ‘can-do’ attitude.   We had good dialogue throughout the process and worked through challenges together to ensure that the project was a success.”

Jim Chase, Managing Director of Advanced Health & Care, says, “We have launched cloud-based Adastra as a fully managed service to provide our customers with flexible deployment options and reduce the cost and management headache of supporting complex and mission critical IT systems.”

Chase continues, “The timing of this new offering coincided perfectly with ADOC’s IT infrastructure review and building refurbishment. We are pleased that we were able act very quickly to provide ADOC with cloud-based Adastra and excited to be able to deliver the very latest technologies to existing and new clients.”

Adastra from Advanced Health & Care is the leading patient management system for out of hours urgent and unscheduled care across the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland.  Over 1000 care provider organisations use IT solutions from Advanced Health & Care. Additionally, across the Advanced Computer Software Group, over 1,000 customers use Advanced’s software applications in cloud environments meaning that Advanced Health & Care is ideally placed to deliver cloud-based Adastra.
